Our debut album ‘The Romance Of Communication’ has been selected as an official entrant of the Cooper’s 8th Australian Music Prize. The list includes albums by someone well loved Australian artists including The Presets, Claire Bowditch and fellow ABC label mate Tim Rogers.

“We're in the process of recording the next album, so it's been an amazing shot of confidence to be nominated for The Coopers AMP,” Steve said

"Sometimes you feel like your work is lost in a sea of new releases, so it's an honour to be picked by The Amp, as your work is judged on creative merit and not on unit sales. It's a win just being selected.”

The album was picked from around 350 Australian albums released in the last year!

November 10th: Autocrat’s debut album selected for the Cooper’s AMP

September 2nd: Birds Taking Flight Tour Announced

The first single from our upcoming sophomore album ‘Birds Taking Flight’ was released this week.

It’s another Steve Lane/ John Holton composition called ‘April Tuesday’.

Steve says, “April Tuesday is a song of celebration, marked by a birthday. It celebrates the seemingly random and coincidental nature of human connection and the ripples caused by worlds colliding; the "what ifs" and sliding- door moments of life. It also honours the way people can bring out the best in each other, and in-turn create new lives, new birthdays, new connections...and so the cycle continues”

You can get your copy at itunes now!

June 28th: April Tuesday - the first single!

‘Thirteen’ is the new single from our latest album ‘Birds Taking Flight’.‘THIRTEEN’ is the shining new single from "Birds Taking Flight".

With surging strings and the rock-solid rhythms of Augie March rhythm section David Williams (Drums) and Edmondo Ammendola (Bass), this powerful and raw ballad tells how a father’s concern for his daughter can be the same no matter the culture, rich or poor… that she may be all she wants to be and live in safety.

Rolling Stone’s Darren Levin says, “Birds Taking Flight" is a bunch of mates writing tightly- honed songs with their blinkers on… Lane’s heart is in the right place when he pays tribute to Pakistani activist Malala Youssafzai on Thirteen.’’ Have a listen to the song here and stay tuned for upcoming tour dates.
